At this moment, more than 350 volunteers across Geauga County are setting up their polling places in preparation for tomorrow’s election (Cuyahoga County has more than 4,500 poll workers!!). On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, polls will open at 6:30a.m. and remain open until 7:30p.m. Anyone in line at 7:30p.m. will be allowed to vote.

To lookup your polling place or view a sample ballot go to the Ohio Board of Elections site.

Questions about the Candidates/Issues?

You can watch the LWV Candidate Forum to learn about local candidates and issues. The following are other great resources:

What do you need to bring?

You must have a non-expired identification with you in order to vote. For the vast majority of voters this will be an Ohio driver’s license or ID card. You can also use a non-expired US Passport or Passport Card. A full list of valid ID is on the Secretary of State’s webpage.

If you have gotten married and changed your name recently please bring legal proof of your name change.

Please do not wear articles of clothing with the name/likeness of any candidate or issue into the polling location.

What if I requested an Absentee Ballot?

The State of Ohio does not allow you to drop off your completed Absentee Ballot at your polling location. It must be taken to the BOE office at 12611 Ravenwood Dr., Suite 004, Chardon, OH 44024 before 7:30pm. If you do not want to drive to Chardon or you never got your absentee ballot you will have to vote a provisional ballot.

What is a Provisional Ballot?

You will be required to vote using a provisional ballot under a handful of atypical circumstances. The Ohio SoS website has a good writeup on how the provisional process works. Basically, you will fill out a normal ballot but instead of your votes being counted by the scanners at the polling location, the ballot will be placed in a special yellow envelope. At the end of election day, all of these provisional ballots are returned to the BOE where they will each individually be reviewed to determine if the ballot inside is able to be counted. After voting the poll worker will give you a piece of paper with instructions for how to determine what decision the BOE made regarding your ballot.

Please note that the provisional process at your polling place will take longer than voting a regular ballot due to the level of care required to properly document the ballot. Your poll workers will thank you if you have valid ID and you will get in and out quicker!

What are the lines like?

Given that this is not an election with national offices on the ballot turnout will likely be low. We typically experience the longest lines of the day between 6:30am and 7:00am. After the initial rush is complete waits typically are less than 5 minutes at most polling locations in Geauga County. After 6:30pm it is typically very quiet with almost no lines.

To keep lines moving quickly you will be asked to get your ID out of your wallet before you check-in with the electronic poll book.
