Located at 12611 Ravenwood Dr, Chardon, OH 44024, the Geauga County Office Building is now completely occupied with the Board of Elections finally vacating their previous offices in Chardon. This move brings all of the services of the County within a 20 minute drive from Bainbridge and we no longer have to drive through Chardon to get there!

Unfortunately, it isn’t really obvious from 44 that the building is there as there is no sign up at the road other than a ramshackle wooden sign that is too small to even read. However, it is in the same complex as the University Hospitals Geauga Campus, which has great big obvious signs. Just keep going past the Veterans monument and you will find it on your right.

What Services Are Available?

The obvious services from the outside are an Ohio BMV Office (access it from it’s own exterior door) with the typical license services but also a title office.

The Board of Elections is also present in and around the building. Their offices are located in the basement (the so-called Ground Floor) so when you enter through the front lobby to the 1st Floor you need to go down the stairs (to your left) or elevator (to your right) to get to the BOE offices.

You will find the county commissioners and building departments on the third floor. When you are up there make sure to look out the windows at the beautiful views.

The second floor is home to the Department of Aging, Job and Family Services, as well as Veteran Services.

The complete directory for the building as of Oct 2025 is shown to the right.

Board of Elections

The BOE office is on the ground floor (aka basement) which required a lot of extra work and planning before they were able to move all the sensitive election equipment from Chardon. But now that they are in, this is where you will go for early voting, dropping of ballots in the ballot box, resolving provisional ballot issues, as well as where all poll worker training is done.

The ballot box is located next to the BMV office and is a drive up box. It is the white box on the right hand side of the building (you can see it in the image at the top of the page). Note that due to Ohio Secretary of State rules you may only drop off your personal ballot, not the ballot of anyone else. Full info is shown below and is available at the SoS webpage.

For in person voting and early voting at the BOE, you will enter on the 1st floor and proceed to the basement. The office number is #0004 and there are lots of signs directing you where to go. As with all voting, you need to bring proper, non-expired, ID (typically an Ohio driver’s license or a US passport) and consult the BOE website for their hours. During presidential elections there will often be a line for early voting so plan accordingly.

A quick insider’s tip for those that are visiting the County Office Building and want a coffee or snack. Sadly, there’s nothing available to the public in the building! Instead, go across the street to the UH building. In their main lobby (off to the left a bit) is a little coffee shop called Jazzman’s with good coffee and great cookies/treats.
