Few events say “community” as much as Pancake Breakfasts and Lenten Fish Frys. Both of which take place throughout February and March! Here’s a round-up of the churches that are hosting these Friday evening dinners as well as some local restaurants for when you want your own table (or a professional chef). I particularly enjoy being seated at some random table in the basement of a church and getting to meet new people and enjoy a plate of deep fried fish, some pierogies dripping in butter, and homemade desserts!
For the 2026 Lenten season, several churches and restaurants within 15 miles of Bainbridge, Ohio, are hosting fish fries. These events typically begin on the first Friday of Lent (February 20, 2026) and run through the end of March. Check the schedules for locations hosting events on Good Friday, April 3rd.
Church of the Holy Angels in Bainbridge
Located directly in Bainbridge, this is one of the most popular local spots for a traditional Lenten meal.
Dates: Fridays from February 20 to March 27, 2026.

Special Details: Personally, I highly recommend Holy Angels. Their fish is very high quality, offering both fried (my favorite) and baked cod options. The menu traditionally includes pierogi, coleslaw, and a variety of homemade desserts provided by parishioners.

St. Mary Catholic Church in Chardon
Heading east into Chardon, this parish provides a classic Geauga County fish fry experience.
Dates: Every Friday of Lent, February 20 – March 27, 2026 (Note: No Fish Fry on Good Friday).
Hours: 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM.
Special Details: The menu is extensive, featuring lake perch, baked cod, clam chowder, and pierogi. They are particularly known for their "Perch Dinner," which often sells out early. Kids 5 and under eat free!

St. Mary Catholic Church in Hudson
Located in Hudson, this is a great option for those on the south side of Bainbridge or in Solon.
Dates: Fridays from February 20 to March 27, 2026.

Special Details: They offer a very streamlined online ordering system due to very limited in-person seating. The menu includes fried perch, baked cod, and a "Family Pack" option which is great for feeding groups at home. Kids 6 and under eat free.
Reservations/Pre-purchasing: Online pre-ordering is the preferred method here and often guarantees your meal time-slot.
Our Lady of Guadalupe in Macedonia
This Macedonia parish hosts one of the largest fish frys in the area, known for its consistent quality.
Dates: Fridays in Lent, February 20 – March 27, 2026.
Hours: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
Special Details: Visitors often mention the large portions and the variety of sides, including mac and cheese and haluski (cabbage and noodles).
